LA QUINTA — November 3, 2026. La Quinta’s city recycling FAQ says Burrtec now collects approved household batteries from residential customers upon request, instead of requiring everyone to visit a county collection facility.
Prepare batteries safely
The city instructs people to seal used batteries in a clear bag and tape both terminal ends before pickup. This reduces the risk of accidental contact or electrical short circuits.
Ask for an appointment
Contact Burrtec at 760-340-2113 or CustomerService@burrtecdesert.com. A curbside battery service requires arrangement; do not put loose batteries into ordinary trash or recycling carts.
Other locations remain available
The city also identifies Coachella Valley Transfer Station and a Palm Springs hazardous-waste facility for approved material. The exact acceptance and operating times need confirmation with the receiving site.
